INTERESTING ADVICE FOR HOPKINS ON “THE RUSS ANBER SHOW”
By Boxing Channel Radio August 12th, 2005

On this edition of The Russ Anber Show, Russ talks with Charles Jay about Jermain Taylor’s middleweight title win over Bernard Hopkins, and what he would advise Hopkins to do leading up to the rematch. He also brings into question the 10-point scoring system and the way it was used (or not used, as it were) in determining the ultimate outcome of that fight. Anber’s comments about Hopkins are insightful and original - definitely worth a listen!
Russ Anber is Canada’s man-about-boxing, having worked as a trainer with pros and amateurs for the last 25 years. Among those he has guided - Otis Grant, former WBO middleweight champion. He also has his own weekly show, “In This Corner with Russ Anber,” which airs on The Sports Network (TSN), Canada’s sports leader (tsn.ca), and operates Rival Boxing, a manufacturer and distributor of boxing equipment.

Hello TSS,
Russ Anber is a very informative and at the same time entertaining guy, is he not? A wonderful addition to an already rich-in-content website.
I was very surprised to see Taylor win the Title, even though he won the Fight, (by a hair). Taylor ‘was’ lucky; that he is an American fighter.
Best Wishes,
Sincerely,
Brian Houston

THE FIGHT BETWEEN TAYLOR AND HOPKINS WAS GREAT. TAYLOR WON THE FIRST EIGHT ROUNDS AND HOPKINS TRIED BUT COULDN’T GET ANY MOMENTUM. THE STATE OF ARKANSAS IS PROUD OF TAYLOR AND HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
