RUSS ANBER SHOW: SPOTLIGHT ON CANADIAN PROSPECTS
By Boxing Channel Radio August 28th, 2005

Montreal’s Arturo Gatti has experienced ring success in recent years, but on an overall basis, Canada has not produced a wealth of world championship talent. Is there a shot that can change? On this edition of The Russ Anber Show, our man-about-boxing north of the border takes a look at the up-and-coming boxers in Canada, and who might have a chance to reach the mountaintop.
Russ Anber is one of the more well-known figures in Canadian boxing, having worked as a trainer with pros and amateurs for the last 25 years. Among those he has guided - Otis Grant, former WBO middleweight champion. He also has his own weekly show, “In This Corner with Russ Anber,” which airs on The Sports Network (TSN), Canada’s sports leader (tsn.ca), and operates Rival Boxing, a manufacturer and distributor of boxing equipment.

It’s great to have the opportunity to listen to Russ Anber here at TSS.com. As I often seem to end up missing “In This Corner” on TSN, it’s good to know I can still hear what Russ has to say here at TheSweetScience.com Blog and that his shows are available 24/7 (hard to miss).
As we look towards Fall and some exciting fights, I’m looking forward to hearing Anber (and Charles Jay) break down and offer insights on some of the big matchups.

The Russ Anber show is not only informative, but has the right mix of being highly entertaining as well. Russ and his sidekick make a great team.

I met Russ Anber at the Canadian Nationals in 2002 and was lucky enough to sit close and hear him expound on the sweet science as we watched the matches, I think I learned more about boxing in one half hour than I had in the two years I’d been following the sport. I am now a bigtyme fan of “In This Corner” for the same reason I was held spell bound back then, Russ puts things clearly, and concisely. Thanx Russ.

Russ, my name is Scott Kelm from the St. Cloud Boxing & Wrestling Club of Minnesota. I am looking for information & help regarding taking our boxing club on a cultural exchange program to Cuba. We have sent a couple of our wrestlers to Kiev in Urkraine, Norway, and Australia in the past and would like to extend that opportunity to take our boxers someday to Cuba for a cultural exchange trip. The Association for International Cultural Exchange programs out of Quebec used to do set teams up back in 1997-2000 but I think they folded. Could you or anybody that you know get us some information regarding this. My email is kelm56301@aol.com and our toll free number is 1-888-754-0202. Thank you.
