PUT IT TO REST. IT’S ALL ABOUT MONEY AT THIS POINT. ROY IS A TRUE BOXER WITH RESPECT FOR HIMSELF AND HIS OPPONENT. Tarver’s A BABY WHO REFUSES TO GROW UP. OK HE BEAT JONES ONCE TAKE YOUR WIN LIKE A MAN. YOU BEAT THE WORLD’S BEST. DON’T TURN IT INTO A GIRLY FIGHT BECAUSE THEY WILL ONLY REMEBER YOU FOR BEING A REAL CRY BABY.
September 16th, 2005 at 2:20 pm
Tarver says Jones is not respecting the sport, but it is he who doesn’t respect the sport. To even consider himself in the same class as Jones with his laughable 23-3 record, is disrespectful to boxing and to the fans. Look at all the things Jones has accomplished. The only thing Tarver has accomplished is splitting two fights with the legendary, over the hill, Roy Jones Jr. Hang it up Roy, you have nothing more to prove. Tarver will never, no matter what he does, be as beloved as Roy Jones Jr. Not now, not after he retires, never. But he’s gotta sell tickets some how.

I hope he bust Tarver’s ass,Tarver got alot of mouth and no he’s just trying to eat off another man’s wealth. That punk needs to blaze his own trail.Running around with that no talent James ‘Buddy McGirt. P’COLA IN THA HOUSE. ROY knock that bitch out.

My first thought is I have to see this PPV Tarver V Jones but then I remember that there wouldnt be a Tarver without a Jones. Tarver needs to build his own career and move on. History will repeat itself once Tarver is washed up so respect your elders. It may seem like a long shot given Jone’s past two fights but how I would love to see Travers face when he is defeated.

Roy Jones Jr. has nothing to prove, if he didn’t go through with this fight; he would still have my respect. What happened during RJJ vs Antonio Tarver 2 was hardly a shock, RJJ is a great fighter, not invincible. Roy Jones Jr. is such an accomplished fighter, and has given back so much to the boxing community. Inspiration for me as an amateur boxer for one. Roy Jones Jr. has nothing to be ashamed of at all, he is human. Antonio Tarver in my opinion lacks humility, and has no right to gloat and criticize over one clear victory. Antonio says Roy Jones Jr. has no passion for the sport that made him an Icon…Roy Jones has always kept it real when it came to the Sweet Science. He’s proved time and time again that he’s one of the baddest who has ever stepped into the ring. Yes boxing has made him rich among other things: that’s part of the game. My question is why boxers get into the game in the first place? Is it for passion, or for glory? I myself will never fully appreciate a sport that takes such a toll on your life health wise. But I still practice it, because I’m good at it, and I know that someday it will provide me and my family with a better life, financially. It’s all about the Benjamins for me. Does this make me a bad person? To some maybe, but I don’t care. I appreciate and RESPECT Roy Jones Jr. for keeping it real.

Roy is da sh** and he will stay that way. He’s back with his dad and big Roy ain’t playin no mo’
September 19th, 2005 at 8:01 pm
tarver’s big accomplishment is beating an over the hill roy jones! who else has he beat? he split two boring fights with glen johnson, wow! he acts like his name is right up there with archie moore, bob foster, michael spinks or gene tunney. he wouldn’t even have beat saad muhammad or braxton. shame on you tarver. would anyone rate trevor berbick over ali because he held a victory over him? get real tarver. jones in his prime beats you hands down! i don’t care who wins this fight because jones has already established his place in history.
September 19th, 2005 at 9:04 pm
My heart says that I want Roy to kick the sh*t out of Tarver, but my common sense has me concerned based on Roy’s last two fights. Y’all just remember this: A great fighter that is past his prime can put it all together for one final moment of glory. Everyone that I talk to wants Roy to win this in a big way. I hope he puts Tarver to sleep! C’mon Roy, you have more talent in your little finger than Tarver has in his whole body. It’s now or never, and I know that Roy thrives on a real challenge. I’ll be pullin’ for RJJ!
September 19th, 2005 at 9:30 pm
Hey Guys the real champion to me is Glen Johnson. Remember he to also knocked out Roy and beat Tarver… But hell I hope Tarver does shut his mouth for once but when you make that kind of money you can afford to talk sh**!! But Roy dude do us all a favor beat Tarver and then face Glen one more Time!! Peaceeeeeeeeee!!!
September 20th, 2005 at 2:46 pm
Hey whatever happened to guys being humble champions. This guy Tarver is a good fighter, but I think he is trying to leave a legacy off another man’s glory. That is cowardly and lame. I hope the old rjj can show up one more time and beat the brakes off this dude. He talks all this smack when everyone saw him tell roy he was his idle after the second fight and they’re the same age! Somebody is not keeping it real hope - roy can put an end to this Stan act once and for all. Wonder if he will be wearing rjj shoes this fight?
September 20th, 2005 at 3:42 pm
Whether Roy Jones Jr. brillance is manifested Oct. 1 or not, his legacy is so cemented in the sport that the likes of neither the Tarver nor Johnson victory can eclipse what RJ has done for boxing or for that matter himself - Roy Jones Jr. is undoubtedely one of the greatest ever to enter the ring.
September 20th, 2005 at 5:31 pm
In Jones prime, Tarver was watching and sniffing crack wondering how the hell to beat a man like that. Just because you fought the man at the age of 13 and gave a little fight doesn’t mean you’re just as good as he is. Tarver lost the first fight to jones hands down, and you can see how exausted jones was during that fight. The second fight was what it was. Just meant to be. God wanted it that way I guess to set the stage for Jones to finally get rid of Mr. Bean.
September 20th, 2005 at 8:14 pm
I didn’t know they were going to fight a third time but it is good for the sport and I hope Roy wins this third bout becuz now everyone’s saying he’s not the same Roy Jones that he use to be but I hope he proves all those haters wrong on October 1 by knocking out Tarver once and for all. Then Glen Johnson you are next and then I think Roy should retire and enjoy life with his family.
September 21st, 2005 at 10:41 am
Roy Jones is the best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be. Just because the man has lost 3 fights (1 by DQ) does not mean he is washed up. Aside from Floyd Mayweather Jr. I still hold Roy as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. Tarver got lucky because Roy made a bad career decision. Going up in weight did not kill RJ, the jump back down to 175 did, however. But now its been well over 3 years since Roy adjusted his weight… he’s used to his weight now. He will show up on October 1st ready to fight as the old RJJ. What has Tarver done except capitalize on a bad move by Roy. Maybe there is a reason why Tarver didn’t want to put the title on the line… he’s scared. Maybe he’s starting to remember the man he is facing embarassed Hopkins, picked apart Toney, destroyed David Telesco and his career with a fractured wrist!!! And stopped Virgil Hill with a body shot. And oh yeah… the same man who also beat Tarver. If anyone actually watched Jones v. Tarver 2 you can clearly see Tarvers eyes were closed when he threw that KO punch… pure luck. Tarver is cocky… this is bad… but it’s even worse when you haven’t done jack sh** in your career. Jones now knows that he is not completely invincible… and this makes him a very dangerous man. Go out there Roy, take the student to school, then fight Johnson, waste him as well, then fight Hopkins and call it a career… you’re the best Roy… nobody can take that away from you. Go out there and do what you do best, be the professor of the sweet science.

Ya’ll musta forgot that I’m nice with these, Ya’ll musta forgot this is what I do! What these other fighters take me for… a joke? Ya’ll musta forgot Jones!!!
September 21st, 2005 at 4:01 pm
I believe that RJJ is one of the all-time greats in boxing. That being said I also feel as if Mr Jones should pack it in. Tarver will knock Roy silly again! Lights out it’s over for Roy!
September 21st, 2005 at 4:06 pm
Roy Jones JR is finished as a fighter but in the words of Don King “stick a fork in him, he’s done” It’s Tarver by a knock out! My heart is with Roy, but my wallet would be with Tarver.
September 21st, 2005 at 4:09 pm
rj was the best in his time, i hope he kicks the sh** out of tarver
September 21st, 2005 at 6:04 pm
I’m sick of hearing how Roy Jones is over the hill. Last I checked, TARVER’S OLDER THAN ROY. That doesn’t matter, though , bcuz the world should know that punk got lucky and landed a “perfect” punch with his eyes closed!(check the video). Tarver will suffer the same fate as Montell Griffin, you’ll see him on Fox in no time! Roy, you’re the best that ever did it, (sorry, Muhammad Ali & Sugar Ray Robinson) so put that punk to sleep, go get Johnson, THEN retire the champ you always have been. ONE!
September 22nd, 2005 at 1:35 am
hell yeah roy better win someone outside the public needs to tell him [JONES] THAT TARVER IS ACTING LIKE HE KNOWS WHO ROY IS BECAUSE THEY GREW UP TOGETHER ,BUT SOMEONE SHOULD TELL THE WORLD HOW ROY HAS TO FIGHT 2 MEN ON OCT 1ST! BECAUSE BALD ASS BUDDY ALONG WITH BLACKTONIO TARVER HAVE BEEN STUDYING ROY ALL HIS LIFE IN FASCINATION SO MUCH HE KNOWS WHAT ROY WILL DO BEFORE HE DOES IT!. SOMEONE TELL ROY NOT TO PLAY HIS GAME - IT’S THE ONLY WAY TO WIN WHEN YOUR FIGHTING YOUR #1 FAN THINK ABOUT IT!!! EB
September 22nd, 2005 at 2:08 am

J-LOVE says: that RJJ will knock the s*** out of milk-dugg head shape TARVER then take his boing team to eat a big steak dinner and call all his girlfreinds to his mansion and call it the night after his victory over Tarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrver.
September 23rd, 2005 at 10:57 am
Plenty of fighters have fought over 50 times and not been knocked out. Who you kidding? Tarver won both fights with Jones, only Jones got a gift for being a media darling in their first fight.
And how can Glen Johnson be the real champion? He lost to Tarver as well.
Jones gets stopped by Tarver in their third fight. That is if he shows up.
September 26th, 2005 at 3:08 am
Roy Jones is clearly past his prime. He was a freak of a fighter with all that talent, and he’s had a freaky ending to his career. He could get knocked out in the first round again, and he’s still a first ballot hall of famer and all time great. He just got caught with that left hand that Tarver stepped in with coming from an odd angle (similar to the shot that southpaw Corrie Sanders got Wladimir Klitschko with) and that can happen to anybody. Here’s to Roy summoning one last great effort to shut Anphonio’s mouth.
September 27th, 2005 at 12:05 pm
well in regards to the spotlight of jones and tarver. being real you can’t take anything from tarver … he beat roy jones jr. however, tarver should know that jones is a very Elite fighter at the top of his fight game. QUESTION is, can tarver compete at that level.
September 28th, 2005 at 12:29 pm
ONLY THOSE TRUE SWEET-SCIENTISTS KNOW THAT ROY JONES IS STILL THE MAN! YES, HE IS THE BRUCE LEE OF BOXING AND HE’LL PROVE THAT ON OCTOBER 1ST! THE ONLY REASON WHY TARVER LOOKED GOOD THE IST FIGHT IS BECAUSE HE FOUGHT A DRAINED ROY JONES. THE 2ND FIGHT HE GOT ROY WITH A LUCKY PUNCH. WHO HAS EVER DONE THAT TO ROY? NO ONE. THIS FIGHT, ROY JONES WILL PULL A ROCKY VS MR. T AND MAKE TARVER LOOK LIKE A SPARRING PARTNER. THE FIRE AND PASSION OF RJ WILL BE BACK AND HE’LL PROVE ALL THE CRITICS WRONG! QUESTION? WHERE WOULD TARVER BE WITHOUT ROY-REMEMBER TARVER NEEDS ROY- ROY DOES NOT NEED TARVER. AFTER THAT, ROY WILL AVENGE HIS LOSS TO GLENN JOHNSON THEN RETIRE. WE ALL KNOW THAT WAS A “SHELL” OF ROY JONES JOHNSON FOUGHT.
