How would Russ Anber advise Wladimir Klitschko to approach his upcoming fight with Samuel Peter? Would he tell Peter to jump on his opponent with aggression from the opening bell, or to pace himself, mindful that he may have to go twelve hard rounds for the first time in his life? And what is the true significance of this showdown on the world heavyweight scene? Russ covers these subjects and more with Boxing Channel’s Charles Jay on this latest edition of “The Russ Anber Show.”

Russ Anber is Canada’s man-about-boxing, having worked as a trainer with pros and amateurs for the last 25 years. Among those he has guided - Otis Grant, former WBO middleweight champion. He also has his own weekly show, “In This Corner with Russ Anber,” which airs on The Sports Network (TSN), Canada’s sports leader (tsn.ca), and operates Rival Boxing, a manufacturer and distributor of boxing equipment.

  1. Edgar Wallace Says:

    Dear Russ,

I’ve had correcpondence with you before, although not lately, and my opinion is still the same. I like your show. Nevertheless, regardless of the result of tonight’s fight, because in boxing, anything can happen, and often, unexpectedly does, you should not assume that WK has a weak chin. I suggest STRONGLY, regardless of tonight’s outcome, that you should look at the Sanders fight again, which started this whole chin and seeping of confidence shtik.
If you watch closely, you’ll positively see that immediately following Sanders’ left hand, his head, in the follow through, butted WK TWICE, the first, smack on the jaw, the second, almost like a rebound, over the LEFT eye, leaving a cut. I specify the “left” eye because Sanders threw only a couple of right hands altogether, and perhaps connected with none. and the fact that the cut was caused by the SECOND butt, rather than the first, would imply that WK was at the start of either going down, or had dipped his head. At any rate, he was still standing AFTER the punch, good as it was, but he couldnt’take that punch accompanied by 2 ferocious butts. ………..I’m absolutely serious…..look it up. Remember he got up 4 times.

    Sincerely,

    Edgar G. Wallace.
