By Uncategorized October 18th, 2005Where did all the money go? The millions of dollars that Riddick Bowe allegedly earned during his illustrious run in the sweet science has disappeared. The former champ owes everyone under the sun, lawyers, brokers, businessmen, banks, furriers, and last but not least the state.
Bowe’s money’s not gone exactly. It’s just not Big Daddy’s anymore.
Former heavyweight champion of the world Riddick “Big Daddy� Bowe filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last week, listing more than $4.1 million in debt, and assets of between $1 million and $10 million dollars.
Big Daddy filed when he did to beat a new federal that law went into effect on Monday. According to his attorney Paul Nussbaum, Bowe’s client’s debts were tied to “business transactions and related litigation and liquidity issues.”
Bowe is facing a $3 million claim from an investment fund in Vienna, Virginia; claims worth $311,000 from credit companies; and $705,000 claimed by a California financial services company. The champ also owes $5,400 to Prince George’s County.
Riddick Bowe won the title when he beat reigning heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield in 1992. He subsequently lost, won and lost the crown again, and after joining and quitting the Marines in 1997 , Bowe was arrested the following year for kidnapping his ex-wife and children from their North Carolina home in a Mad Max moment.
Bowe served 17 months in the slammer before being released in 2004.
His post-prison life has not been idyllic. The brain damage excuse he used to get a lenient sentence in his kidnapping case has thwarted his attempts to get licensed in the U.S. to fight. Boxing commissions across the land use that information as though it was kryptonite in Superman’s face.
Bowe did fight in 2004 and 2005, winning both bouts, but no one is calling for a rematch.
He has a record of 42-1, with 33 knockouts … and no money.

YOU KNOW, ME AND RIDDICK BOWE AND MIKE TYSON ALL GREW UP IN BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN. THESE GUYS WERE VERY FORTUNATE TO MAKE IT OUT OF THE GHETTO, AND IT’S A SHAME THAT THESE GUYS FOUGHT ALMOST ALL THEIR CAREERS AND ARE BROKE OR GOING BROKE. WHO CARES FOR THESE GUYS (NOBODY) … ALL THEY WANT IS MONEY, ESPECIALLY THE PROMOTERS. IT’S A TERRIBLE SHAME TO HEAR THAT RIDDICK BOWE IS SUFFERING FROM BRAIN DAMAGE. RIDDICK AND MIKE ARE WONDERFUL HUMAN BEINGS THAT GOT TREATED UNFAIR IN THE BOXING WORLD.

All I can say is God Bless You Riddick. You were my hero and still are. The people that are talking bad about Riddick need only to walk a mile in his shoes. I never met the man, I’m just a boxing fan. We have all had our problems, but because of the spotlight and the money that Riddick has made it seems to put his problems on a bigger scale. So it seems. In reality he is no different than the average American living from paycheck to paycheck. God Bless You Riddick.

I have spent a lot of time with Big Daddy and he does have a good heart, but he is lazy, he is braindamaged and he burns everyone who tries to help him. He can even by a lawnmower, becasue nobody will take his check! I was there at home depot for that!

I know big daddy,and all of theese smart coments cant take away what he has done in his boxing career.For those who made millons of dollars off of him should kiss him where the sun dont shine and that is his big black behind.Bowe is a family man and he has always put his family and friends before him self.BOWE HAD THE BEST JAB IN BOXING,BELIEVE THAT HE IS STILL THE CHAMPION IN MY BOOK.NO one gave him the credit when he beat the best.I LOVE BIGDADDY,AND MY FEELINGS WILL NEVER CHANGE.I want to say that real friends dont go on the internet saying bad things about a person who always gave to his friends and family,and to all of the hatters out there you would not disrespect to his face.to my brother from a nother mother,i love you man.Hey baby it,s all gravy.Ilove you and always will god bless you and miss teri ann and the rest of the family.ps love roniron.God bless you.
