Kehoe: FLOYD-SHARMBA: WHY?
By TSS Predictions November 15th, 2005
Many in boxing are scratching their heads as to why this fight was made. The cynics have one version, the rationalists another. One wonders as well: does Floyd Mayweather understand the laughter going on behind his back in taking on this fraudulent matchup with a fighter – in Sharmba Mitchell – who is clearly not even in the same area code as Mayweather? If this is all about giving a former world-class fighter one more big payday, it still doesn’t make sense. Shame on the great Mayweather for putting his fans through this glorified sparring session … Prediction: Mayweather any time he wants to!

This needs to be the LAST of Mayweathers BS fights…we know you are the greatest, now you gotta prove it by fighting every big name you can get your hands on. If not, you will end up exactly like Roy Jones…mark my words

I disagree totally !
The big prize is Zab Judah. he needs a tune up fight with someone creditable at 147lbs.
The extra weight makes a difference and Mitchell has something to fight for and prove. This is a dangerous opponent for Floyd.

Just another fight that makes sense to the promoters but not to us the REAL boxing fans!!
These sparring sessions just serve to fatten a boxers record, remember their record is like a resume and most of us have done things just to pad our resumes’ right?C’mon stop lying!!
Unfortunately these fights are inconsequential on a fighters legacy provided he doesn’t do too many of them back to back,WINS and fights a qualified opponent in between these bank account and record fatteners.
Don’t hate the player hate the game!!!

Nobody is in Floyd Jr’s league, its obvious by now. I doubt that not many fighters out there even want to fight him, whats the point. Who? Who? Who? Would even have a shot? Hatton? Yeah maybe if he’s able to take the beating of his life, just to get close enough for a lucky KO punch, but if he dont get it, there’s no chance of him winning enough rounds. Then who Judah? Yeah he’s got fast hands and can move, but he’s got a suspect’s chin and to be honest with you, I think he would be intimidated to fight Floyd. Zab is as flashy and as cocky as Floyd but not nearly as skilled. It’s gonna take heavy hands to catch up with Mayweather and there is just nobody out there. Tszya maybe…when he was in his prime, he cant deal with the speed. Margarito? I like, but no. There is only one guy I think may have a shot at out boxing Mayweather and thats Shane Mosley, let me tell you why. Experience for one, he’s been in numerous big fights and he still wants it. He’s looked good against Estrada and Cruz. It’s my prediction he will get his shot at Zab and beat him without controversy, putting him in the drivers seat to set up what I think will be the best challenge for Floyd Mayweather Jr. By the time this happens, Im expecting to see 2 or 3 of these Shamba Mitchell type fights. The kinda fights Mayweather will shine in. But then again…I dont make bets.

What are you guys talking about!! Sharmba Mitchell is going to win the fight by knockout in the fifth!!!….. !!SYKE!! had you going huh!? Mayweather is going to open a nice warm can of whoop ass for Sharmba Mitchell like his father used to when he would misbehave back when he was a young lad come saturday! I think Floyd is the best out there right now I dont see any fighter beating him not Zab,hatton, especially not cotto, nobody, but Floyd really needs to stop bullsh**ing and start fighting these guys, not these nobody’s and has beens(Arturo Gatti)he’s been fighting lately I want to see him fight Zab next but I have a feeling he will go for an easyer opponent like hatton or another nobody. Oh but Floyd will win saturday by T.K.O. let’s say 8th round.
