Michael Katz: Lamon by KO in sixth
By TSS Predictions March 31st, 2006The Wolfman can not endorse the White (a/k/a Big and Bad) Wolf. Curious to see how Buddy McGirt has changed Lamon Brewster. Suspect it will be for the good. Lamon by KO in the sixth round, a nice gesture to allow fans to quickly leave Cleveland.

No way will Lamon ko Liakhovich with McGirt in his corner. He’ll win a close unanimous decision because McGirt’s game plan is always to box, and this is not where McGirt strengths lie.
PS - I think McGirt is overrated

I do believe that if Brewster boxes it will make it easier for him to knock out the “White Wolf.” McGirt can change him but when the fight heats up, Brewster will try and takes Sergei’s head off - and will succeed.

Eugene, Why do you say McGirt is overrated? Are you saying he’s not a top-notch trainer?

Below is what I said 2 dys before the fight.
I think Lamon’s timing for changing his trainer and team is questionable. He appeared to be fighting well under Reid’s guidance and still made the unexpected change. McGirt is obviously a terrific trainer but perhaps not the best trainer for Lamon. That remains to be seen. And while I think Brewster is a good and exciting heavyweight, he hasn’t made that much of a transformation, in my view, that he can’t be outboxed again by a handful of fighters. And, another website has photos of Brewster that show he may have adopted eating habits from James Toney during his time at the Wild Card gym. Even McGirt said he entered training camp HEAVY. His opponent this weekend is not the savior of the division but has the size and style to outpoint Brewster. If Brewster can’t score the KO it will be tough fight for him. I think he’s ready for a letdown and will pick against him in this one. The odds should provide good value.
