Wlad the K demolishes Byrd in Germany

According to “supertrainer Emanuel Steward, his Ukrainian powerhouse heavyweight Wladimir Klitschko wants to unify the heavyweight belts, and will perhaps start by signing on to fight Hasim Rahman.

Speaking after Klitschko’s demolition of undersized American Chris Byrd in Germany on Saturday afternoon, Steward said politics may prevent Klitschko and Rahman, who is comparable in physical stature to Dr. Steelhammer, from meeting. Rahman drew with James Toney to retain his WBC belt in March.

With the decisive beatdown of Byrd, Klitschko claimed the IBF strap. Steward told Larry Merchant that a match with American Calvin Brock is a possibility, should Brock get past Russian Timor Ibragimov on June 24 in Las Vegas.

James Toney, James Toney, James Toney!!!!!!!!
James Toney in July then the winner takes on the winner of Rahman Maskaev in October or November. I like Brock however; there needs to be some type of unification THIS YEAR. Saying all that I highly doubt Emanual Steward will let Klitscko fight Toney anytime soon.

Mike L is right, if the four man tournament was to go ahead we could finally know who is number 1. I also agree about Brock, with a little bit more experience he could be a real contender.

I agree we need a true “Champion” in the heavyweight ranks. There really isn’t even a linear champ anymore. The problem are the purses. The money they earn for a fight takes out the “burn and yearn” for the title. We need strict time frames that are mutually agreed upon by the various sanctioning bodies. They must defend, not pretend. Purses should be reduced on an escalating scale if these time frames aren’t met. The $$ going to support retired fighters in need. The promoters and the hosting media must be invoved as well. This is not perfect by a long shot but is a start to build on. The money is there and the action needs to befit the prize…….

I was somewhat impressed with Wlad but what we have to look at is who he was fighting. Chris Byrd has great skills but NO power so he could not really challenge Wlad. It has been said that he wants to fight Brock next so remember where you heard it first Brock by KO in the 5th or 6th round!
I would also like to say that Manny is the best trainer on the planet and he has made Wlad better. But there is one thing that you can’t train and make better and that is a CHIN! When Wlad gets hit with real heavyweight power just watch him fall apart just like old times! I want you and everybody see that I respect Wlad’s skills because he is one of the most skilled fight in the world today. But you have to understand this aswell that want serve him when his chin is checked. So in closing don’t be fooled Wlad has not been challenged yet!

I know everybody is saying that Oscar is going to beat Mayorga but that will not happen. Mayorga is going to win that fight by TKO in the 6th or 7th round remember where you heard it first! I have always respected his skills but his time is up and all of this will come to the light very soon. Oscar will not be able to keep Mayorga off of him and will be tricked into a slug-fest and the ref will have no choice but to stop the fight. Oscar has been great for boxing but the fat lady has sang and went to bed. I would like say good luck Oscar with Golden Boy Production and your newborn but it is over!

Daniel Telley you must be out your mind if tou think Mayorga has even the slightest chance in hell. Oscar is way too skilled for him and I am so confident I will eat humble pie on this very website if Oscar does`nt destroy him!!!

First of all we’re suppose to be talking about Vlad - The Heavywight division is A MESS PERIOD. Nobody in the Heavyweights is worth watching expect Vlad and a few other bumbs. But I do agree that De La Hoya is going to knock Mayorga out. Mayorga does have a puchers chance and with that he has alot of heart! De La Hoya in order to win soundly needs to come right in and dictate policy from the 1st round. If he doesn’t we may see the end of another hall of fame boxer go down in smoke. Rightfully so that’s just the way he’s suppose to go out. All true - real champs go out on there backs. Not like that pompus British fighter we all know as Lennox Lewis. A great fighter but I think he left to soon although I dont blame him. Look at all the bumbs in the division.
