WBO Featherweight King vs. Cops
By Michael Woods April 24th, 2006Scott Harrison vs. Tear Gas
He’s fought some of the tougher featherweights in the game today, and acquitted himself pretty well. But against tear gas, well, Scott Harrison apparently did not have the same brand of luck.
The WBO featherweight titlist was in a Glasgow pub this weekend and was arrested with two other men after the partiers supposedly grew angry when they were refused service.
The Guardian and the Mirror have differing accounts about the incident, but Harrison (25-2-2, 14 KOs) was taken into police custody on Saturday and is scheduled to answer a court date today for the incident. Tear gas was allegedly used by law enforcement to restore order in the pub.
Bad timing for hijinks of this sort, considering Harrison, age 28, is set to face Martin Honorio in Belfast on May 20 to defend his WBO strap.
The Scot nabbed the title from Victor Santiago on June 8, 2002 and dropped the strap to Manny Medina on July 12, 2003. He rematched with Medina on Nov. 29, 2003, snagged a TKO11, and has defended the crown seven times since then.
