Tessitore Offers Prediction On Wednesday Night Fights Feature

Allan Green, who’s hoping to land a title shot against Joe Calzaghe, will likely put on a showy performance against outclassed opponent Donnie McCrary on ESPN’s Wednesday Night Fights broadcast this evening (9 PM Eastern), says announcer Joe Tessitore.
The broadcaster checked in with TSS, and informs us that McCrary provided Green sparring for the Oklahoma super middleweight’s Nov. 4, 2005 blowout of Jaidon Codrington. Green’s people looked long and hard for a suitable opponent for tonight’s scrap, but were met with a chorus of ‘Nos,’ Tessitore says.
So they asked McCrary (17-3-2, 10 KOs) if he wanted to test himself for real against the 26-year-old Green (19-0, 13 KOs) and the sparring partner accepted.
“McCrary’s tough and confident but there’s a big gap in class,” warns Tessitore. “I think Green’s a future world champ and there’s something fun about watching a guy like that on the way up.”
Tessitore thinks Green is looking to provide a violent, thrilling shout-out tonight to help him secure a title shot: “I’d be surprised if he didn’t provide a spectacular finish.”
Also, a trimmed-down Jameel McCline will take on journeyman Rob Calloway in a support bout. “Jameel looks great and he’s not bulky up top,” Tessitore says. “He’s the lightest he was since he fought Wladimir Klitschko in 2002.”
