WBO Champion’s Battle With Booze, Continued
By Michael Woods May 24th, 2006Scott Harrison’s nightmare continues
Someone could produce a helluva reality show about WBO featherweight champ Scott Harrison.
It’s now being reported that Harrison’s manager, Frank Maloney, has walked away from Harrison after claiming the troubled boxer isn’t interested in being compliant with a treatment program to get sober.
Maloney feels Harrison’s father and trainer, Peter, is the only one who can reach the fighter, the Daily Mirror reports.
Maloney said: “I feel I can’t do any more to help the situation.
“I have spent the last 10 days completely involved in Scott’s business and his problems.
“I have now decided to take a backward step and let his family deal with it. They feel there is a different solution.
“Scott’s out of control and drastic action needs to be taken. There are certain people who pander to Scott and give in to his every whim. Now the Harrison family can take charge of his situation for a while.”

Scott needs to get back on track and fast.
nobody can doubt that with fame comes pressure and whilst each person is individual, Harrison needs to look at Barrera or De La Hoya and realise that he is still only 28, he has 3-4 years left at the top and can make himself one of the best UK fighters alongside Calzaghe and Hatton.
Harrison can retire when he wants, he is financially sound and can hit the bottle then. But till then he needs to wake up and realise that being world champion means that as well as being number 1 comes responsibility.
