Ali Will Fight In South Africa In August

Laila Ali will be taking part in a title fight in South Africa, against opponent TBD, in August.
After spending about a month in the United States negotiating the fight, promoter Joe Manyathi finally returned to his homeland in South Africa confident that he clinched a deal to bring the tough-talking offspring of the most famous athlete in the world to his region for a summer scrap.
The Daily Dispatch of South Africa reports that Ali is keen on fighting in the region where apartheid reigned.
“She was mostly impressed by what South Africa has achieved since the death of apartheid,” the promoter said.
Now if we can just find her a suitable foe…
Hey, what about Joe Frazier’s daughter? I bought their PPV years ago and it was a helluva battle. As for Ann Wolfe, who is supposedly Ali’s most logical rival, if these two don’t do it soon, they’ll let the opportunity for a nice promotion die on the vine.

We’ve been begging for Ann/Laila for years- but they can never seem to get it together. Laila’s former husband would always drum up HUGE money for Laila and less than $20k for Ann…and off TV in the ass end of China. Pretty futile efforts. And Ann has had awful management to deal with so..as you said it may well die on the vine. Unless someone else comes up with another Million Dollar Lady…..

I honestly believe (call me crazy) that Laila Ali is……………AFRAID TO FIGHT Ann Wolfe! I know Laila has the appearance of a better technical fighter, but Wolfe wants her, BAD!! I think she has spotted some obscure weakness and plans to exploit it. I wish the egos involved would allow this fight to happen. I’m SURE Laila can take a LITTLE less and let Ann have a LITTLE more to make it feasable. We true fight fans would love to see it!!!

laila is ducking ann. with her mouth and ego, money shouldn’t matter. the best fighters have a raging pride.
i was laila’s greatest fan, but now i’m convinced she doesn’t want any part of ann.

It’s simple run & hide. Laila has alot to say about Ann as well as Leaticia Robinson. She needs to either step up to the plate or run & hide as she does best. Take a second and look at her fights she never really fights anyone with winning records, She has more excuses the reasons I don’t comprehend any real any great fighter as she claims to be would fight anyone regardless of their stats. I am a female fighter myself and never turn away any fighter that challenges me appropriately. I understand that it’s not all up to the fighter but also ur team, promoters and or management if u have any. But simply said u as the fighter always have the Last say so. So Laila Why don’t step up and fight’em all or just go RUN AND HIDE!
