The Quietman petitions WBA and comes out a winner

Two-time heavyweight champion John “The Quietman” Ruiz (41-6-1, 28 KOs) has been installed as the World Boxing Association’s No. 1 contender, according to the sanctioning body’s latest ratings.

Ruiz had petitioned the WBA for an immediate rematch against Nicolay Valuev for the WBA heavyweight title, or No. 1 rating, after losing a controversial decision to the giant last December in Berlin.

“I want to thank the WBA for granting at least one part of our petition,” Ruiz said. “If we couldn’t get an immediate rematch, we asked that I be rated in the No. 1 position and next in line for a WBA title match against the winner of Valuev and [Owen] Beck.

Valuev and Beck do battle on Saturday, June 3rd, in Germany.

    Why god… why?

I would much rather sleep through a Valeuv/Ruiz fight than through a Ruiz/Beck fight. At least I would expect a different outcome from a Ruiz/Beck fight than a Valeuv/Ruiz fight, since the giant doesn’t look anxious to fight outside of his adopted hometown in Germany and John’s hopes for a fair decision in that place are about the same as hell freezing over.

I think it would be more interesting just to see how the new trainer for Yawnny, I mean Johnny, gives cornerly advise to his fighter. I think he may have more to say than old Stoney did - which was scream complaints at the ref. I guess I could set my alarm clock to sound off every three minutes so that I could hear what Ruiz’s new trainer would tell him, and then go back to sleep when the bell rings to open the round.

Ruiz has 9 lives! I don’t understand how he keeps coming back! His style is despised by all. He should fight Sam Peter and get KTFO!

Neson I have to ask, Ruiz Not get a “fair decision” in an WBA, How many gifts has the “The Quietman” recieved? I am hard press to think of a Ruiz decision victory that was not controversial. The reason he is called the quite man is he’ll put you to sleep if not into a coma. I rather watch ANY of the alphabets champs shadow box than watch Ruiz “HUG/HOLD” his way to a victory. As for the Ruiz Valeuv fight the big man out wussyed Ruiz at his own game.
