Problems in Indonesia result in boxer’s death

The pro boxing debut of Indonesian boxer Fadly Kasim came to a horrific conclusion, as the 22-year-old collapsed in the sixth round of a bout in Manado on Saturday.

He was rushed to hospital but died there on Sunday, Deutsche Presse-Agentur reported.

An investigation has been ordered into the death.

At least 19 Indonesian boxers have died in the past, and in 2002 the World Boxing Council forbade Indonesian boxers from competing in its events for several months to enforce stricter safety measures in the country.

    Hi Scott -

In Indonesian newspaper it’s written as his second fight (Kasim’s) instead of his pro debut.
