Euro Champ Busted For Doping

Germany’s Michel Trabant fails drug test

European welterweight boxing champion Michel Trabant of Germany has failed a drug test for an unspecified substance, and faces a ban, the German professional boxing body BDB said on Tuesday to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur.

“The test of the A-sample was positive. Michel Trabant now has 10 days to explain himself,” said BDB head Bodo Eckmann.

Eckmann said that Trabant (43-2) tested positive for a substance during a fight with Marco Cattikas on May 6 in Dusseldorf. If found guilty of doping Trabant faces a one year ban.

Trabant, 28, has fought an inferior level of opposition for a fighter with such a level of experience. His one world title fight came against American Jose Antonio Rivera in 2003 and the Berliner lost a majority decision.
