Mesi Injured, Bows Out Of July Date In Louisiana

Injured Joe Mesi withdraws from next fight

Joe Mesi will not fight on July 8 in Louisiana as scheduled because his hand is sore and also because he doesn’t want to jeopardize a higher-profile bout down the line.

The Amherst Record quotes his father/manager Jack Mesi on the reasoning for the pullout.

“We’ve decided to pull out of the next fight,” Jack Mesi said late Monday. “His knuckles are a bit sore, which will prevent him from preparing properly for the fight.”

Mesi won by unanimous decision over Stephane Tessier on Friday in Montreal to improve to 31-0.

“We also wanted to protect bigger opportunities,” the elder Mesi said to the Record. “We didn’t want to jeopardize our next big fight.”

Jack Mesi would not disclose the exact date, location, or opponent for the next bout but said that it would not be in the US.

How could you have a “big” fight and for it to not be in the U.S. ??? That’s kind of odd. Joe better be fighting in Canada or the U.S. if he expects to get on T.V.
I like that Joe is coming back and I think that he deserves to have some tune-up fights. C’mon! He was forced to take two years off with no heavy training and you expect him to fight the best right away…some people should learn to understand!
Joe has a long way to go it seems. Hopefully foor and hand speed will return.
