Evander returns to action in Big D
Evander Holyfield is one stubborn sonofagun. He’s returning to the ring on Aug. 19.
Lester Bedford, Holyfield’s agent, confirmed that Holyfield will be fighting at American Airlines Center in Dallas, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
An official announcement will be made Thursday, when the name of Holyfield’s opponent is also released.
Holyfield (38-8-2, 25 knockouts) was licensed in Texas last week by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
This bout will be Holyfield’s first since Nov. 13, 2004, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Larry Donald. Holyfield is 1-3-1 in his past five fights.
Two months ago, he proclaimed his wish to win another belt. Is he a stubborn old goat? Or a tenacious sportsman who exemplifies tenacity? I’m going with goat, but who knows?

gud luk is all that cums to mind, he’ll need it, 43, its crazy but then again forman did it and hopkins at 41 and dnt forget the old mongoose archie moore was batteling till he was 48-its possible but sumthing tells me its not probable.
this is not the era when boxers like Evander can activily pursue his crazy dream of being champion, and even worse, wanting to unify the titles. In this day in age in the heavyweight division, the top heavies are much bigger and stronger than before.I admire holyfield’s willingness to still want to fight the best, but to regain “the titles” ,he wont be fighting Moorer for the title like foreman did…evander gets outgunned, out boxed, out-classed in route to devastating losses from semi-good contenders…Seeing what happened to Leavender Johnson, i just hope the commission wont sanction fights that might really send him packing…with a one way ticket! Evander needs to focus on the life he has with his kids and leave these delusionnal thoughts alone.
IT’S EVANDER’S LIFE. IT’S UP TO HIM. PEOPLE SHOULD NOT SHOW UP TO SHOW THEIR OPINION. DON’T SHOW UP, BUT SHUT UP. HE DIDNT ASK FOR ANYONES OPINION. HE WILL TAKE THE CONSIQUENCES. I WOULD LIKE HIM TO RETIRE. BUT I WOULD NOT BUG HIM ABOUT IT.
Anyone who sanctions a fight that involves Holyfield should be held responsible for the mans aftercare,,it is sincere madness!
Holyfield was a great champion with more guts than any other fighter i have seen but even if he stays out of the ring now he will be lucky if he evades any form of severe pugilistic dementia (already evident).
All true fight fans and sanctioning bodies owe it to Holyfield to prevent this happening, for a champion that gave his fans his all in EVERY fight, providing inspiration to many young fighters and athletes it is better to preserve this man than send him to the same conclusion as Ali.
