Explosive James Toney-Sam Peter Presser

Just got back from the James Toney presser. Sat at the same table as David Avila. As you’d imagine with Toney, it turned into chaos when Dino Duva pressed the wrong button. He called James stupid. Toney had to be restrained. Duva’s team shouted angrily (if a little hollowly), with Sam Peter looking perplexed, but were careful not to make a move toward Toney, who was barely contained by his entourage. It could have been right out of the presser playbook, but it didn’t look like James was playing.
Suddenly, danger was in the air. James threw a glass at the Duva team — Lots of scuffling. James’s team, with all the effort they could muster, dragged him away, cursing and yelling he was going to wait for them outside the Palm.
He did, fuming and pacing, shouting what he was going to do to all of them when they came out the door. He waited and waited. They never showed — must have found another exit.
You’ll all be proud to know, David Avila did TSS proud: He never lost his aplomb throughout.

I was at the press conference myself and the reason for J.T. going of like that was the continuing insulting remarks and disrespect by the other team.
As J.T.’s conditioning coach I can promise you, that on 09/02/06 it will be the James “lights out” Toney show at Staples and there will be NO doubts of who the real champ is.

I’m glad to see Toney is fired up for this fight. Hopefully, he’ll put in his roadwork and come in without the extra 20 pounds around his midsection.
He is still the most technically skilled heavyweight out there right now and we will miss his old school skills and mentality when he’s gone. But he has to come in shape.

if Toney can get past the initial barrage from peters he beats him,but if he plays im gonna lay on the ropes peters either bangs him out or wins a lopsided decision…..very dangerous fight for toney

Toney in shape for Peters? Yeah, and Paris Hilton’s donating her brain to science. Like last time Toney’s going to eat his way into opera singer shape, and his lack of mobility will spell doom.

Toney is a REAL fighter, so dont act suprised if he starts a fight, thats what he does. Sam Peter is going to be schooled when Professer JT is done.

Getting rather tiresome…someone insults someone…Toney yells and screams, they yell and scream back. All part of the game. Was Toney not supposed to fight the winner of Rahman - Maskaev….why this fight now? What if Peter wins?

Who has JT defeated in the Heavyweight division that is worth knowing? Same goes for Sam Peters. After you look at the list you will see that both are not worth watching.

Hi Joe, you sat next to me for the entire press lunch and it was a delight to speak with you. I thought Duva and Goetzev did their charge a great disservice ‘bumping their gums’ the way they did. Hi Matt,
As JT’s conditioning coach, I hope you’re going to get Lights Out in shape for this fight. His conditioning has been disgraceful of late. And I say that as a big JT fan. Regardless of injuries etc., there’s no other way to look at it.

James is a great fighter and I believe he will destroy this guy in sept. Never never never under talk James Toney. Make sure that you have made all funeral arrangements before you step in the ring with James Toney. He will destroy you.

i thibk james will take this fight seriously and get into shape and train hard
but you know sam is so unskilled and loops his punches
i think james rolling and stuff will create oppurtunities to counter
