Atlas Not Training Henry Maske

Setting the record straight on Atlas/Maske

Teddy Atlas will not be training Henry Maske for his return to the ring.

Maske stated at a press conference earlier today that Atlas might train him for his rematch against Virgil Hill, scheduled for March 31, 2007 in Munich, Germany. Maske’s statement is not correct.

After Maske’s representatives asked Atlas to train the German fighter and were turned down, Maske himself flew to New York in an attempt to convince Atlas to train him. Maske told Atlas that he was returning to the ring for the sole purpose of redeeming the only loss in his career, to Virgil Hill in 1996.

Atlas was prepared to take on the job of training Maske when he believed that the driving force behind Maske’s decision was his desire for redemption. However, Atlas has become disappointed in Maske’s behavior as it has become clear that Maske’s commitment and his priorities are not what he initially represented.

Atlas has therefore decided that he no longer wishes to be a part of Maske’s comeback.
