A Notice To Our Readers
By Michael Woods September 21st, 2006Yo! Is there a boxing promoter in the house?
We presume that you are a hardcore boxing fan if you are reading this now.
You love the sport, and crave news and analysis about your favorite fighters.
We take pride in our roster of writers and are proud of our growth since we debuted two years ago.
We also know that many readers aren’t too interested in website vs.website beefs, and generally, we steer clear of that stuff.
But we do want you to notice something, if you haven’t already.
When you go to some of the other top boxing websites, please notice that many of those sites feature ads from promoters and other power players in this business. Some of those websites regularly feature content straight from the mouths of those sponsors of their websites.
We want to you notice something else.
Our website does not feature ads from promoters and power players.
Thus, we aren’t faced with the unpleasant task of having to choose to run with a story that might impact one of our advertisers negatively, or ignore the story, so that we can pay for our bandwidth.
I have never been asked to change something I’ve written, or steer clear of controversial topics or people. I’m proud to be affiliated with a platform that gives writers a conflict-free atmosphere, and ask that you ponder those other sites, and read them with the understanding that their sponsors may enjoy preferential treatment, and thus do a disservice to you, the reader.
I’m not calling anyone out, I’m simply pointing out a conflict of interest that exists in virtually every medium. Bottom line – advertisers influence content.
End of dissertation…Thanks, as always, for reading TSS.

This raises some pertinent issues.
I enjoy maxboxing BUT I do remember Doug Fischer’s very curious scoring of Erik Morales’ third fight with MA Barrera and his bout against Zahir Raheem, fights that Barrera and Raheem won clearly. I also remember seeing the big Top Rank logo on the site. Not accusing Mr. Fischer of any bias but even the appearance of bias is problematic if one wishes to be seen as an objective journalist.

This site is a blessing indeed. Just keep the news coming. Eventually some Boxing Fans will see the light. I got tired of the hierachy of this other site I posted on in which they had no respect for us elder types. I like it here that’s why I keep coming back. Thank You.
