Mayweather vs. Hatton: Not

Floyd Mayweather has some choice words for Ricky Hatton

The gesso hasn’t even dried on the Carlos Baldomir canvas, but “Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather is already thinking ahead to his next masterpiece.

Everyone knows Floyd’s got the Golden Boy, Oscar De La Hoya, in his sights, and vice versa, which ought to be a monster payday for both superstars, but many in Great Britain would love to see PBF get it on with their very own Ricky Hatton.

Too bad it’s not happening.

Floyd Mayweather“Ricky Hatton don’t want to fight me,â€? Mayweather told SecondsOut.com. “If he did why is he going back down to 140? Why also did he ask for $13 million, when his previous best purse was only $3 million? Ricky should stay back in England fighting wrestlers that are handpicked. As long as he does that he’ll stay undefeated.”

Mayweather was asked why he was so dismissive of Hatton and his string of victories, and Floyd said, “Hatton’s a wrestler. Even when he fought Kostya Tszyu it was a wrestling match. Why does he want to fight me for $13 million when he struggled with a journeyman last time out? And why should I go to England? This is America. I’m the champ. If he wants the fight he has to come here. But Ricky Hatton doesn’t want to fight me.”

By all appearances Hatton would be smart not to fight Mayweather, but let’s first see what happens Saturday night with Carlos Baldomir.

Wise words by PBF,,,’why did Hatton go down to 140lbs’, well for one its his best fighting weight which showed on his last outing,if PBF went back down to 140 i would expect Hatton to knock him into next week but PBF knows he could take Hatton at 147..Expect americans to disagree and Brits to agree…..whichever, as a Hatton fan i want to see the fight but Hobson needs to get his head out of his ass and make the fights for Ricky rather than make him a boo spectacle in the states(13 million?Warren couldnt mastermind that so Hobsons no chance)if Americans had seen Rickys previous fights at 140 then they would agree that hes a great fighter, had Ricky been American he would now be a household name and a huge star. Hatton does want PBF but unfortunatley his management team are crap and expecting more than his worth, also not getting the fights quickly enough or the right fights to raise his credibility. I hope Hatton shows America his true grit and gets the praise he deserves, which at the moment his critics are able to revel in the mess that has been created by his team.

    PBF would destroy Hatton. Period.

  3. charl-o says:

yea man… ricky scared!!!!hes a good fighter but floyd is the truth. hed kill hatton on a bad night

  4. Adam says:

Hatton is a pressure fighter. Floyd has trouble with pressure fighters. It could be a good match up; however, it wont happen so who cares? Anyway, Floyd has to worry about Baldomer this weekend, who is also a rugged pressure fighter with a granite slab for a chin.

  5. Matt W says:

FM has offered Ricky a fight 3 times and Ricky turned him down every time citing that it was a bad time in his life, with promoter changes and lwasuits. This was from Ricky’s own mouth. I personally want to see it happen. Two undefeated, multi weight champs, both in their primes, and each able to make weight at either 140 or 147 should fight. I am ticked this fight has never happened. FM will pick him apart, but Ricky is a hurricane and doesn’t back down. It’s a megafight in the making. I don’t care about FM DLH fighting. DLH is past his prime and more interested in promoting and banking. FM RH is the best fight that can be made today.

  6. Mwelwa says:

I am happy that PBF is now having the test of his life. he is good, talented and fast. watching baldomer in action against Gatti i think PBF will find it easy to destroy him with his fast punches or combination. Ricky hatton is pretty good too but no one wants to fight. Good luck PBF

  7. PAVK says:

Mayweather is the one who hand pickd opponents Judah before Baldomir while B just beat Judah. He also is slowly back door promoting what will eventually be a great fight Hatton and Floyd if Shane or DeLahoya don’t get him first.

  8. The Truth says:

Ricky vs Floyd will be a great fight. Floyd is goading Ricky to fighting against him. I don’t necessarily think Hatton is afraid to fight Mayweather. Maywaether is fast and highly skilled. Hatton is strong and has tons of power in both hands. However, this fight needs to happen soon, while these guys are still in their prime. When they do fight eventually, as long as Floyd can avoid Hatton’s power and tire Hatton by making him run all night and working on Hatton’s body, Floyd should get the decision. On the other hand, if Hatton can hurt Mayweather early, (and Hatton is capable) Hatton can win by KO, but only time will tell. Should be a great fight…

  9. Angel says:

wel Hatton lost his last fight, I wa there and the puerto rican whipped him and they still gave this guy the fight? Politics, but I forgot this is boxing. Hatton is a wrestler who has not beat anyone worth getting a title fight, fought once in the US and in my and alot others opinion lost his last fight, no wonder she hasn’t fouhft in a year, he wants the US to forget about his last bout.

  10. Paulie says:

Hatton VS Mayweather will probably be an Ali-Frazier in the making (Boxer VS Swarmer). It’ll be good, especially since Ricky has made it clear in the past he hates Floyd with a passion.

  11. Dean says:

Way too much hype for this potential matchup.

Hatton is not even remotely in the same league as PBF. Hatton is entirely one dimensional and would be utterly overwhelmed by Floyd.

Hatton should continue fighting journeymen in England and be happy with his fame/paydays across the pond. If he comes over here he will be exposed and he knows it. Asking $13 million was a ploy just so he’d have an excuse for why the fight is not happening (he knows that amount is ridiculous and would never be agreed to).

I’ve never been impressed much with Hatton.

  12. pete says:

Ricky’s fights after Tszyu have been unimpressive. He was very lucky to get the decision against Collazo. I scored it for Collazo. However, at 140lb I think he has more than a chance against Mayweather – but he would have to fight smarter.

I think that Baldomir has 30% chance of beating Mayweather first. We’ll see …

  13. Copey says:

Hatton asked Mayweather for $13m for a fight and Mayweather turned it down saying thats my numbers. In England the value of the Pound is double the price of the Dollar at the moment and Hatton fetches £4m over here, so is it really that hard to ask for a mingie $13m in US because im confused as to knowing why Tyson and Lewis split $110m. In the Uk we see America as the money state for boxing. If ricky were back in the uk he can make upto £10m in three fights. If Floyd Mayweather were to come to England I think he’d make more than America would dream of paying out, so Floyd should wise up, hatton went there thinking $13m wouldnt be that hard to earn knowing that he’s moved to America were the “BIG” money is “MEANT” to be.

  14. EvilRoySlade says:

You Brits as always, are delusional. No one but England gives a rat’s ass about RH. He’s another Prince Naseem. Stay in England, pad your record and bank account and avoid the emergency room visit PBF would send you to. That’s what all Brit fighter’s do anyway…and don’t throw Lennox Lewis at me. He’s as British as Razor Ruddock.

  15. barney says:

It’s pretty quite from ” you yanks” after that very average show from PBF. I don’t think that Ricky would of been quaking in his boots watching that!! You only fight what your promoter puts in front of you, if you reckon there is any millionaire boxer that hasn’t battererd a few muppets along the way to build up the bank balance then you’re delusional….

  16. johnny (England) says:

evilroyslade: yeah prince naseem was rubbish wasnt he???? it was that all american guy that beat him…barerra. lol….his only loss was a points decision to barerra in his prime who is a legend…surely he couldnt of been that bad.

No one in England gives a sh*t what you thick yanks think about our boxers…we know they are quality…calzaghe…hatton…hamed…lewis….benn…eubank

Lewis is not british????? he was born in West ham London…lived there till he was 12…lived in canada for 9 years then moved back to London…..so that makes him Canadian?????? thick yank

  17. johnny (England) says:

come back to me in 2 years and tell me how crap Calzaghe and hatton were.

Floyd mayweather retiring after one more fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahahaha ……yeah he will be spoken about for years to come in the same breath as Duran, Chavez, ali, louis, hearns, sugar ray……BULL SH*T

“iv just beat baldomir…who???? then im gonna beat De la hoya (like he’s the hardest fight out there)..then im gonna retire at 29 and be remembered as a legend…cuz ive been in so many wars and thrilling fights” hahaha THATS DELUSIONAL

  18. Copey Belfast says:

Johnny that was the wisest comment ive heard so far THANKS.
Ugly boy Floyd has done nothing but complain about Hatton.
After that shitty performance from Floyd, I mean he was so nervous he literaly shit himself into a win, I mean he was running away costantly from a 35 year old brawler with fear written all over him. His nerves was what made him wim. I stronly believe baldamir got 5 rounds. I definutly believe that Hatton with his bouncing ability will costantly barge mayweather into the corner and pound him properly to the body. Floyd has this thing with nerves that makes him bend sideways and leaves his guard wide open on his left side, he does this in fear of getting KO’d. so for him to have his last fight with yet another 35 year old who Hatton, Williams, AND Margerito would pumble is a sure sign hes looking the easiest way out. Both Floyd and Hatton should give eachother one more offer and forget about the past turndowns that the had, SO GET IT ON THISTIME….

  19. TheReturnIsNear says:

I think everyone that watched Ricky’s last fight, KNOWS he lost the fight. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I felt he didn’t do enough to beat the champ, Collazo. You can’t argue that. With that being said, Ricky brushed off a re-match with Collazo as if he was the obvious winner. Eventhough he admited that to be the toughest fight of his career and admited to being hurt several times throughout the match. Collazo simply asked him to make good on his word and grant him a re-match in his home soil and Hatton declined. I think Ricky KNOWS that a next fight against a underrated American fighter such as Mr. Collazo will result in a KO or TKO and might exposed him more than he already is. Just a one sided wrestler, I apologize I mean fighter. I agree with the gentleman who said the reason why Hatton took some time off was to hope that America forgot about his last exhibition. He might have beaten unknown sloppy drunks in Britain, but here in the states we have world class fighters with respect and reputations. It’s a whole different ball game, and he got a taste of it in his last fight. He was supposed to “dominate” in the states and had a sad first impression. He asked for 13 million to fight Floyd? I believe he is out of his mind and someone close to him is feeding him garbage. He hasn’t earned that type of money not to mention reputation. As for the rest of Englands fighter, I have very much respect for them. I just feel as though Hatton is an overrated brawler. GOD BLESS THE QUEEN!!!!!!

  20. Pepe says:

Hatton is wack, Floyd will kill him. Oscar is going down too homeys.

  21. Giovanni says:

If they fight at 140 Hatton will win. Floyd has never seen someone who is balanced as Ricky except Oscar and I dont know how Floyd won that fight since he ran for 12 rounds. Speed obviously goes to Floyd and if Hatton is overwhelmed by his speed and the moment he will lose but everyone knows Floyd has no knockout power and Hatton hits hard and is faster than anyone Floyd has faced other than Judah who cant put together a 12 round fight anyways. Hatton by decision because Floyds a runner and Hatton pressures

  22. Royboy says:

Floyd is a runner. he better go join marathon. he is not a boxer, he is a runner as what i said. I love to see them fighting without a gloves. Im not impressed the way Floyd fight. He just keep on running and afraid being hit. Look at Pacquiao and Morales Fight. that is a true boxing fight.. But for Floyd, he just run punch run punch. And he said to Oscar that he will knock down Oscar head, and stay toe to toe on him. And look what he do in 1-12 rounds. Keep on Running. I have a jingle music for Floyd. Running by No doubt. LOL

  23. Mike says:

An over the hill De La Hoya took Floyd to school. Unless Floyd oils his ten speed really good, or Hatton is cut early, Hatton should knock him out about the 11th round…

  24. sarah says:

THEY HAVE FOUGHT…. think the reff was pathetic..floyd kept using his elbows and ducking. hatton is a great boxer no shame to mayweather he is a champ but that match has only made hatton want to fight more!!
