Israel Vasquez/Rafael Marquez on Barrera undercard
According to various sources, the boxing card headlined by Marco Antonio Barrera taking on Juan Manuel Marquez on March 17th will also feature a potentially explosive “battle of little giants” between Israel Vazquez and Rafael Marquez.
Marquez and Vazquez are both fearsome punchers who hold world titles in the Bantamweight and Super Bantamweight divisions respectively. The Golden Boy Promotions card is slated for Las Vegas.
Simply stated: this is great news

As Mills Lane used to say, “Let’s get it on!!” This is indeed great news for boxing fans and the undercard may be better than the main event because Isreal and Rafael are still a little fresher than MA and JM. But I’ll take both of these fights over anything the heavyweights have to offer right now.

At what weight would they fight? According to the WBC here in Thailand, Vasquez is having problems making super bantam. I don’t believe them for a minute but it just gives them another bogus reason to all the two Thai fighters to take part in an interim championship.
This is a huge fight, the winner cements himself as a legit top 10 p4p fighter.

March 17th is going to be a great night of boxing and yes, quite possibly card of the year.
Rafael Marquez vs. Isreal Vasquez. That’s a damn good matchup. Barerra vs. JMMarquez appears to be a great matchup but Im not really sure. Both fighters are primarily counter punchers. For namesake it will sell. Two headline matchups. Defintley worth seeing though no question about it.
I think this will be a great match. Saul is right about this being card of the year. I cant wait for the fights.
Who thinks Juan Manuel will freeze? Who thinks Israel will have another come from behind knockout victory? Who thinks Barrera will become Brawlera? Who thinks Rafael will add to his growing legacy?

i just wish they would give this to us on HBO instead of on PPV , oscar de la hoya seems to think every fight he promotes is instant pay per view. Perhaps this one is though.
