Chicken Stallone calls Tyson a killer, asks for Antonio Tarver
Mike Tyson, looking for some work, asked Sylvester Stallone for a role as an opponent in Rocky Balboa, it’s been reported in Starpulse.com, but Stallone nixed that concept because he said he is “still too young to die.”
The 60-year-old actor told the website that “Mike wanted to fight me in this film but I thought it was a bad idea. I know I’m not that young, but I’m still too young to die. I said, ‘Thanks, but I don’t think that would be a very good idea. Thank you very much.’
“But he kept calling the office saying he wanted to be in the film fighting me. Eventually, I relented and said he could be in the audience. Then I never heard from him. Suddenly, when I turn up in the ring he’s there at the side. I turned round and said to the crew, ‘Can you make sure you keep that son of a bitch out of the ring. If he gets in he’ll kill me.’ The man’s a killer.â€?
I’m mulling that What If?
I tend to think it would have been exceedingly hard for the audience, many of whom are negligibly interested in the day to day goings on in the sport of boxing, to suspend their disbelief, and accept Rocky staying on his feet for more than 30 seconds against Tyson.
Antonio Tarver was fine in the role, though I still think Shannon Briggs would have been the best choice to play the part of Mason Dixon. Those dreds, that physique…then again, Stallone may not have wanted such a specimen to stand next to him, and allow the audience to compare the two…
Tarver wasn’t all that ripped, and thus, we were better able to believe that the geriatric Balboa could stand toe to toe with him…
Bear in mind that Stallone is not a very big guy. Ken Norton was supposed to play Apollo Creed, but he was too big for Stallone.
Tyson and Briggs would’ve been WAY too big. I mean, Ivan Drago was big enough.
I have met both and Stallone is probadly an inch taller than tyson
i think they should get in the ring sly will beat the hell out of tyson i think he wont die he really is like a tonne of iron and will not and cannot be knocked off his feet in the first round tyson will xxxxxxx
Stallone was probably afraid Tyson would have bit a piece of his ear off.
Stallone was around 170lbs in the movie and Tarver bulked up to be bigger than him.
Remember that Ludgren as Drago was only 195lbs for shooting. Mr T was around 185lbs.
Tyson regulary weighed in at 220 and is 230 now. They would not be able to keep the belief that Stallone was a heavyweight.

Why are people so upset with Stallone? I read these boxing columnists who seem to hate him. Geeze! He’s an actor who made movies about boxing. Who cares? You don’t see CIA agents ranting about how Matt Damon or Tom Cruise wouldn’t really make good secret agents. Only the boxing community is goofy enough to feel the need to perpetually point out that Stallone wouldn’t last long with a real heavyweight champion. Wait, does this also mean that Sigourney Weaver couldn’t hold her own against a ship full of rabid aliens? Hold on, you’re shattering my world.

THINK OF IT THIS WAY THERE MAKING A FILM IT WOULD BE MORE INTERESTING IF MIKE DID STAR A ROLE IN THE FILM IT WOULD BE AN EVEN BIGGER BOX OFFICE SELLER. EVEN MORE PEOPLE WOULD BE ITCHING TO SEE THE FILM. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT TYSON WOULD KILL STALLONE IN A REAL FIGHT BUT ITS ONLY FILM SURELY TYSON WOULD CHILL. PEOPLE OBVIOUSLY KNOW ITS A FILM AND NOT A REAL FIGHT! YES I AGREE TYSON SHOULD HAVE STARED IN THE FILM IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE FOR TYSON AND TO WATCH HIM ACT.

I have met stallone in person at the London Premier, I am 5ft 10 inches and Sly was an inch shorter. Tyson is around 5ft 11, it would have been an even match up and possibly ressurect Tysons career, thanks to Sly himself….
everybody knows tyson would have killed stallone , tyson wouldnt like to lose or win withouth KO ,he could actuallty hurt him
i think that stallone in reality he can win with tyson because he has a soul of a real fighter folks.
Sly should have given Mike a break in his film. Enough people have kicked Mike when he is down. It is all very well for everyone to say he had a fortune and blew it, but with people like Don King that would not be hard. I think Mike may surprise everyone with his acting ability
