Bell/Mormeck Rematch In France
By Boxing News January 23rd, 2007Don King in France to announce March 17 cruiserweight rematch
Don King arrived in gay Paris today in anticipation of the Wednesday (Jan. 24) presser announcing the highly anticipated rematch between WBA/WBC cruiserweight champion O’Neil “Supernova Bell and former unified world cruiserweight champion Jean-Marc Mormeck.
The March 17 bout will be at the Palais des Sport Marcel Cerdan in the city of Levallois.
Bell and Mormeck met each other on Jan. 7 at the Madison Square Garden Theater in one of last year’s most memorable fights. Their first meeting included a sensational round seven that Dan Rafael at ESPN.com described as “an exhausting round just to watch.
Bell (26-1-1, 24 KOs), originally from Jamaica and now residing in Atlanta, entered the first fight as the IBF cruiserweight champion while Mormeck (32-3, 22 KOs) from Point-a-Pitre, Guadalupe, but now residing in Rosny-sous-Bois, France, had the WBA/WBC straps.
With the win Bell became the first undisputed cruiserweight world champion since Evander “The Real Deal Holyfield held that distinction in 1988. His subsequent inactivity led to his being stripped of his IBF crown, but he still retains the other two belts.
With all of the accolades being showered upon the first fight, Bell vs. Mormeck II will be the biggest world championship boxing match staged in France in years. The bout will be televised on the Canal+ network in France.

I hope finally Bell can get this rematch behind him and move on with his carreer. It’s sad O’neil hasn’t fought in 15 months. Hopefully after this fight Don King will give Bell a Shot at the 7-foot Russians WBC Title. Please somebody save boxing!

I agree that boxing needs to be saved and O’Neil Bell needs to get his career going again; and now with Vitali Klitschko coming our of retirement and wanting to challenge Oleg Maskaev for the WBC heavyweight title which he said he was promised when he became injured before he retired makes this division more complicated than what it is already. Samuel Peter is the rightful contender for the belt and he should fight Maskaev for the belt. Maskaev’s promoter’s cannot keep hiding and ducking Samuel Peter forever so go ahead and give the man his rightful title shot!!!!!!!!

Bell vs Mormeck. Bell will beat Mormeck again. All Bell has to do is not get caught in the first four rounds and he will win by knockout again. This is a matter of styles. Mormeck is 34 years old and is another fighter who has a weight lifter’s body. Meaning no stamina and his punches look harder than they actually sound. Easy win for Bell if he trains right.

O’neil Bell should have given Dale Brown the rematch he desrves after being robbed by the judges in their IBF Title fight in May of 2005. The fight was clearly won by Dale Brown.
O’Neil Bell should be ashamed of himself for not setting up a rematch. Dale Brown should be Champion.
