We will move forward to make the superfight against Hopkins on July 21 as long as the deal is fair to all parties and the fight is on an even playing field.
“I have never failed to make a fair deal with Golden Boy when we have negotiated for a fight that our fighters wanted.

As a former boxer myself, I can understand Roy’s reluctance to walk away, but I feel that he shouldn’t let his ego affect his judgement. Being from Philly, it’s hard for me to say this buy Bernard continuously mentions his “legacy”, but why was he given so much credit for knocking out Tito and Oscar, two men who were naturally smaller than himself(with the later starting his career as a superfeatherweight). Arguably, Roy’s record can be scrutinized as well, but there’s been quite a few occasions where Roy was the naturally smaller man. What do you fellas think?

I think it’s scary that Roy wants to continue to fight. His knock losses to Tarver, and Johnson especially, were brutal. He’s already build his legacy and will always be remembered as one of the greatest of his generations and arguable an all-time great. I would really hate to see him end up like James Toney…did you listen to him talk after the Peter fight? His speech was slurred! I would have loved to see Roy vs. Hopkins 5 years ago but today I would rather see them both ride off into the sunset..

I agree witcha phillyboxer…Roy is one of my homeboys I play on his basketball team…I know when he is up for a fight I feel it in his actions and how handles himself while training…The reason why Roy never gave a damn about size is because he knew he was coming to a different fight then his opponents were coming to…He just thinks dominate, box, stick and move while not getting hit and destroy the body at any given chance…And then win the fight…I respect B-hop but alot of the big names he beat never had a chance with him cause he was naturally bigger and he followed Roy’s format with one punch exchanges to awe the crowd and fast combo’s to throw off any offense from his opponent…If Roy trains with “Im gonna kick his ass” intentions…Bernard is going to have to be the one coming forward to entice Roy to loose focus…But, I don’t think B-hop wants to run up on Roy like that…Pensakillaz in the howz!!!!!!

Oh yes Ed, I heard Jamese after the Toney fight, and my heart ached for him. The first time I noticed his speech was in “Ali”…did any of you noticed his slurring then? I agree with you Beat…I don’t think Bernard really wants to run up on Roy seriously, and i’m pleased to see that i’m not the only one who’s not afraid to mention the fact that the couple of big names on Bernard’s ledger wer naturally smaller. I just about got lynched speaking that fact in Philly. lol Pensacola represent…I used to be stationed down there years ago.

Both these guys should retire now while they have their health. Seeing as they still insist on fighting I must say: Roy still has the ability to land & not get hit when fighting Hopkins to the point where it will frustrate Hopkins to death. Roy does not have a great chin by any means but because he is light footed & possessing the defense skills he does he can avoid being hit for the most part, Hopkins on the other hand has a far better chin maybe not quite the defensive skill Roy has, however should he land some good shots this could add up to be a well matched & exciting fight.
