Edison Miranda Is Back
By Uncategorized January 31st, 2007Edison Miranda/Allan Green on March 3 HBO telecast
On Saturday, March 3, HBO’s World Championship Boxing will feature Colombia’s hard-hitting undefeated middleweight Edison “Pantera Miranda returning to action against rising star Allan “Sweetness Green from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Also on the show, Puerto Rican bomber Miguel Cotto will defend his WBA welterweight title against number one contender Oktay Urkal, live from the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
“Puerto Rico has become like a second home to me, said Miranda (27-1, 24 KOs), speaking of his adoptive home. “I love to train there and the people treat me like one of their own. I can’t wait to fight in front of the people of San Juan on March 3rd, and I promise to treat them to another knockout victory against Allan Green.
A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, unbeaten Allan “Sweetness Green (23-0, 16 KOs) is a master boxer-puncher who can bang and bang hard when he gets a chance. He scored the KO of the year in ‘05 when he demolished highly touted Jaidon Codrington in just 18 seconds, and he’s gone 5-0 since, with wins over rugged veterans Anthony Bonsante, Emmett Linton and Jerson Ravelo.
It looks like HBO delivers the goods again with the March 3 Miranda/Green – Cotto/Urkal doubleheader from Puerto Rico.

This will be a great fight.
Quite frankly, I’m still waiting for Miranda-Abraham II.
I don’t care who won that fight, I just think it will be a rematch made in heaven.

This is great! A fight between two hot prospects! Who will stand and deliver? Is Miranda the next coming of a middle-weight version of Ernie Shavers? Does Green have the chin to withstand the barrage of bunches Miranda will be throwing his way the first half of the fight? And if he does survive the first half of the fight, does he then have the boxing skills to break his opponent down and win by late round KO or decision? I’m picking Green will win this one by split decision. Both are impressive but Miranda relies too much on the hay-maker while leaving himself exposed. I also think he’ll be taking a lot of head shots in the later rounds. This should be a really good fight…better than Cotto/Urkal.

I hope Miranda knocks the Green out of Allan

This should be a great fight. What a concept, two contenders fighting each other while waiting for a title shot. Maybe the heavyweight division will take note.

Miranda is not undefeated, he lost to Arthur Abraham, barely.
Miranda is a middleweight who punches like a light-heavyweight. Green has a glass jaw and was almost KTFO by a journeyman fighter. Expect Miranda to win by KO inside of 4 rounds.
Does anyone know what weight division this fight will take place in? Is Miranda moving up to 168 or is Green coming down to 160?

J Double R i agree with your comment. If Green is getting starched by a journeyman sparring partner who had him OUT in their fight, how’s he going to fare against a KO puncher who destroyed Abraham’s face. I’ve heard that the fight is going to be @ 160. I’ve heard Allen Green say on ESPN FNF that he can make the 160 limit without too much problem if he needed to.

Miranda won his last fight by first round knockout. Lucky for Miranda it won’t be a year in between fights. Miranda is used too early knockout so this one wont be any different. As for Green going down to 160. Green lets HBO dictate the weight. I mean who else can dictate this fight being at 160,only HBO. Bad Move for Green. Perhaps an injury in sparring will save Green from being brutally knocked out. Green should be at 168. Im happy for Miranda that HBO is providing a place for him because I think he is a rising star in Boxing. I really like Miranda’s story and his work ethic.

Good fight. Bout will end early. If Green tags Miranda early with a left hook, Miranda is toast.
If Miranda shows early that he can take whatever Green has, Green is in big trouble.
I pick Green by decision (wishful thinking)
