Wlad vs Haye Is On

By Uncategorized April 2nd, 2009

Wladimir Klitschko and former cruiserweight champion David Haye will battle on June 20, Dan Rafael reports.

Most likely, the bout will take place in Germany.

This fight will be the most anticipated heavyweight bout since…Lord…I don’t know when….Maybe you all have a suggestion for me.

If only Haye’s skills matched his mouth, he’d be unstoppable! I believe that Haye’s making a huge mistake in taking this fight so soon. He really needs a top trainer like Freddie Roach to help improve his defense. A bob and weave approach might help David get inside of Wladimir’s jab. He must get inside if he has any hope of landing anything big on Wlad’s chin. I believe Wlad’s jab will keep him at bay until he’s worn out and almost unable to see due to swelling around one eye. David has most of the natural gifts needed to be a great fighter: Speed, power, and spirit. But he’s missing one essential ingredient: defense. Also, his stamina is questionable, as is his chin. This fight may be enertaining early, when David’s pumped and ready to go, but Wlad’s jab will begin to take the wind out of his sails, and once Haye realizes that he cannot get inside without taking a stiff jab to the face, his confidence will deflate like a balloon. Once he loses his spirit, it’s just a matter of time before he’s finished. I’d love to be proven wrong here- Haye’s style is much more entertaining than Wlad’s. But, I believe it’s just too much too soon for David.
